The Ripmo AF (Aluminum Frame) brings the award-winning performance of the carbon Ripmo to a wider, rowdier audience. It’s everything we love from the carbon Ripmo, plus a few tweaks. Best of all, complete bikes start at only $3,000.
Over our long tenure from mounÂtain biking’s awkÂward adoÂlesÂcence to its curÂrent anyÂthing-shredÂdy era, we’ve experÂiÂmentÂed with steel, aluÂminum and titaÂniÂum — rememÂber the Bow-Ti, the first superÂbike? We rememÂber the metÂal times too, and it feels good to offer a preÂmiÂum ride expeÂriÂence to our broadÂenÂing famÂiÂly of ridÂers, courÂtesy of durable, affordÂable aluÂminum alloy.
With a steep, 76-degree seat tube angle and a rangy but not stratosÂpherÂic reach, the RipÂmo AF places ridÂers cenÂtralÂly and upright over the botÂtom brackÂet. It makes for an effiÂcient posiÂtion that can go the long haul withÂout placÂing too much weight on its slack, 64.9-degree headÂtube angle. A 44mm reduced-offÂset fork is more sureÂfootÂed on steep descents and steadÂies high speeds. BetÂter up, betÂter down.
Since 2005, we’ve partÂnered with susÂpenÂsion guru Dave WeaÂgle on the dw-link susÂpenÂsion platÂform. It proÂvides an unparÂalÂleled comÂbiÂnaÂtion of climbÂing effiÂcienÂcy and downÂhill perÂforÂmance, which has been proven repeatÂedÂly at the highÂest levÂels of racing.
The RipÂmo AF is comÂpatÂiÂble with both coil and air shocks due to a more proÂgresÂsive leverÂage rate. It allows for coil’s linÂearÂiÂty to thrive and we spec air shocks with tunes that proÂvide pop withÂout feelÂing too harsh. On the trail, it gives the susÂpenÂsion a supÂple feel throughÂout the entireÂty of the stroke, enhancÂing tracÂtion no matÂter how deep you dig.
DVO
Now that we made the frames leverÂage rate proÂgresÂsive enough for a coil we had to find a coil shock that could hanÂdle the increased stress of being driÂven off of a cleÂvis. The DVO JadeX is up to the chalÂlenge so the RipÂmo AF comes with cusÂtom tuned DVO suspension.
